Joseph Lighthall, a senior at Hughson High in California, won his 800-meter qualifying race in 1:53.45 at the CIF State Championships at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis. Lighthall produced the fifth-fastest performance among all the athletes who qualified for the state final.
